The Final Conference of the project PORTODIMARE, funded within the EU Interreg ADRION Transnational Cooperation Program, will be held on December the 9th and 10th, 2020. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the event will be held online via EUSAIR Stakeholder Platform.
The objective of project PORTODIMARE (geoPORtal of TOols and Data for sustaInable Management of coAstal and maRine Environment) is to contribute to the transnational cooperation in the Adriatic and Ionian Region in addressing the common challenges on Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM) and Maritime Spatial Planning (MSP) and to support the implementation of the EU Strategy for the Adriatic and Ionian Region (EUSAIR) and its Action Plan by developing actions that are cross-cutting to the 4 Pillars of the Strategy (https://portodimare.adrioninterreg.eu). The main output of PORTODIMARE is the Geoportal of Adriatic-Ionian Region (GAIR), an open source, interoperable platform which gives the access to a wide range of information layers, to data processing and mapping functionalities, and to the use of a set of tools dedicated to the analysis for MSP (modules). The GAIR therefore represent an innovative and functional platform answering to the increasing demand of knowledge and decision support tools (https://www.portodimare.eu/).
The PORTODIMARE project includes 11 project partners and 2 associate partners coming from 6 Countries of the Adriatic and Ionian Region (Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Greece, Italy, Montenegro, and Slovenia), and the leading partner is the Emilia Romagna Region from Italy.
This two-day conference will show the results and outputs of PORTODIMARE project including the Geoportal and its tools and their potentialities in supporting the decision making and planning processes ongoing in the Region (e.g. the elaboration of national maritime spatial plans, as foreseen by Directive 2014/89/EU). A specific session will be dedicated to the ADRION capitalization Thematic Cluster n. 2 setting the way forward for PORTODIMARE and the other projects focusing on coastal and marine environment management. First day of the final conference will be held in English language while the second day will be dedicated to the parallel sessions with national stakeholders which will be held in national languages.
